What you need:

  • A Tripod.
  • Zoom Barrel Lens

How to shoot this effect:

After you have found an interesting subject, set up your camera on your tripod.

Set a long shutter speed (3-6 seconds) using Shutter Mode.

The aperture will reset according to the desired shutter speed.

You can either start with the zoom barrel zoomed all the way out or all the way in.

Let's start with the zoom barrel zoomed all the way out.

As soon as you press the shutter, begin zooming in smoothly. After you get the hang of it, you will notice that it is better to start zooming slightly before you press the shutter and end zooming slightly after.

Go out and start shooting! (I recommend shooting stain glass windows because of the way the light falls into the camera).

Shutter Speed: 1/77 sec at f/4.8 ISO (160). A Bryne
